I weekly shop in-store at Walmart for groceries & misc – also do a lot of online shopping there, but have never tried Curbside “Pickup” or “Delivery” from store. Didn’t even know about the “Delivery” from store until yesterday.
Was ordering a wedge pillow online yesterday, and needed about $10 more in orders to get over the min $35 to qualify for free shipping. Before I had realized it, there were gonna be two deliveries – two items were going to be “Delivery” from store yesterday, and the wedge pillow fell under “Shipping” and was coming by FedEx today.
(NOTE to myself: pay closer attention when ordering, and remember the differences between “Pickup” & “Delivery” & “Shipping”!?)
Not knowing what was involved – I did a quick internet search.
Walmart delivery works by using third-party drivers to deliver orders to customers’ doors.
OK – next question was if a tip was involved, since I wasn’t sure if I had any cash at home.
No, tipping for Walmart delivery is not required, but it is a common practice and drivers appreciate it.
OK – had seven dollars stashed in wallet, and of course one should Tip for such a service, IMHO. Order being delivered was less than $15, but $2 seemed low & $5 seemed high. Settled on giving a $5 tip just for finally catching up to such a great service. Modern world moves quite fast for someone almost 79 years old. 😉
Went back to my computer and checked on the order. It was on the way, and had “7 stops” before me. You could watch on a map – as the driver made stops and then moved on.
When it was about 13 minutes from delivery I went out on the porch and waited. Then a phone message that it was about to arrive. Then another phone message saying it had been delivered!?!
Ditto on Went back to my computer and checked on the order. Walmart said it was delivered!?
Clicked on the Help – that brought up an online Chat. That ended up with a “Check your neighborhood” and something like—check back in two weeks if you can’t find it.
Got on the phone with Walmart support, and it was excellent service! 👍👌 Support Lady said there was a picture of the delivered package on the grass near a shed. Does this look like a porch or door step:
That’s the rear of my property—off an unpaved XX6 street. My address is XX XX3 street, the same address that FedEx has delivered MANY Walmart packages to, and the same address that Google Maps shows correctly. Google Maps also shows XX6 street to the rear of that address.
Anyway, Walmart’s most excellent support Lady quickly & professionally resolved my delivery issue. Walmart has always been great for me; however, they need to fix that: “Check your neighborhood” advice!?! It is doubtful that I will ever use that “Delivery” from store again, but it is possible…
P.S. I kept the $5 Tip…
