This page is focused on Windows 10 & Windows 11 users, in an attempt to show them the many ‘Specialized’ OS options offered by Linux ‘n Linuxes. Linux can be installed on a USB for a ‘Portable‘ OS and/or as a ‘Rescue‘ OS and/or an ‘Anti-forensic‘ OS and/or a ‘Penetration Testing‘ OS and/or a ‘Privacy Surfing‘ OS and/or ‘Multimedia‘ OS and/or ‘Virtual Machine Tools‘ OS and/or an OS for the ‘Visually Impaired‘ and/or .. and/or .. pretty much anything you can imagine … well, except ‘Dat! 🙄
- 1) Linus Torvalds has explained why the so-called Linux “Desktop” OS ‘Stinks‘: ‘For the last 20 years, I kept hearing how Linux on the Desktop would go mainstream in “five years.” “One of the problems Desktop” Linux has is it’s not made for “normal people, and by normal people I mean, obviously nontechnical people…”‘
- 2) Linus Torvalds on Why Linux Hasn’t Succeeded on Desktop: ‘I still wish we were better at having a standardize desktop that goes across all the distributions … It’s more of a personal annoyance how the fragmentation of the different vendors have, I think, held the desktop back a bit … It seems to be that Chromebooks and Android are the paths towards the desktop.‘
Many “Desktop” Linux users have tried to push Linux onto Windows users for years, as a primary OS, and it simply hasn’t worked. Those “Desktop” Linux users have missed an opportunity & the point of Linux, IMHO. Point is – Linux makes a great secondary and/or tertiary OS, in a World where most people use at least Two OSes daily (e.g. computer ‘n phone).
