Code change in Windows 11 version 23H2 from the Release Preview suggested that Windows &#8220;12,&#8221; or whatever Microsoft plans to call Windows 11&#8217;s successor, would be available as a subscription, like Microsoft 365, Xbox Game Pass, and other services. As it turns out, those assumptions are likely false.<\/p>\n<p>Windows Central published a new report, shooting down rumors about a Windows &#8220;12&#8221; subscription. Instead, that code references the recently spotted Windows 11 IoT Enterprise Subscription.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You can\u2019t make this stuff up. \ud83e\udd14\ud83d\udc4e<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span>Conclusion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>After \u2018<i>Doing the Math<\/i>\u2019 &amp; a brief research of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Satya_Nadella\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Satya Nadella<\/a> \u2013 it should be obvious that Microsoft has no plans to dump Window 11 (<i>or any future Windows OSes<\/i>) for a forced subscription OS.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, a subscription Windows OS, as an option for further \u2018<i><b>Growth<\/b><\/i>\u2019 of Microsoft\u2014as long as Satya Nadella is in control, certainly seems plausible.<\/p>\n<p>BTW, Windows 10 was released to retail on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Windows_10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>July 29, 2015<\/b><\/a>, and rumors about \u2018<i>Microsoft going to start charging subscription fees<\/i>\u2019 started almost immediately afterwards. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/meet-the-team\/ed-bott\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ed Bott<\/a> cleared it up on <strong>Feb. 6, 2016<\/strong> with this \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/windows-10-subscriptions-arent-happening-heres-why\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Windows 10 subscriptions aren&#8217;t happening.
