Easy to use &#8216;n I&#8217;ve had great success wid it thru Win7 Home Premium, Win10 Pro, and Win11 Pro. Before that I had Vista Ultimate, which came wid a similar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bleepingcomputer.com\/tutorials\/how-to-use-vista-complete-pc-backup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Backup and Restore<\/a> utility, and my backup image was saved to CDs &#8216;n <em>maybe later to DVDs<\/em> (??\ud83d\ude33 <em>I forget<\/em><strong>?!<\/strong>) \u2013 <i>again<\/i>, great success wid it.<\/p>\n<p>Only issue I&#8217;ve ever had was trying to restore SSD images to an M.2 PCIE NVMe drive, i.e., Backup and Restore (Windows 7) couldn&#8217;t do it. M.2 PCIE NVMe images to M.2 PCIE NVMe drives worked fine\u2014<em>ended up doing a clean install, which worked great<\/em>. Haven&#8217;t tried doing an M.2 PCIE NVMe image to SSD, but may soon when I build a new computer &#8216;n move &#8216;<em>Guts<\/em>&#8216; of this one (&#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/linuxnewbiesince1996.wordpress.com\/buy-low-or-byoc-build-your-own-computer-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Apevia<\/em><\/a>&#8216;) to main test computer &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/linuxnewbiesince1996.wordpress.com\/buy-low-or-byoc-build-your-own-computer-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Rose<\/strong><\/em><\/a>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<p>Lots of pics so lets get started! \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n<p>I use a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingwin.com\/kf-251-bk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Kingwin KF-251-BK<\/b><\/a> &#8216;<i>Dual-Bay Internal Tray-less Rack for 2.5\u201d SATA HDD or SSD<\/i>&#8216; <em><strong>or<\/strong><\/em> similar tray-less racks <em><strong>or\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>USB <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newegg.com\/wavlink-wl-st334u-red-us-dock\/p\/0VN-0069-00014?Description=Hot-Swap%20SATA%20External%20Hard%20Drive%20Docking%20Station&amp;cm_re=Hot-Swap_SATA%20External%20Hard%20Drive%20Docking%20Station-_-0VN-0069-00014-_-Product\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hot Swap SATA<\/a> Bay docks because I don&#8217;t like keeping backup images on the PC. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.startech.com\/en-us\/hdd\/usb3s2sat3cb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>SATA to USB Cable<\/b><\/a> has also worked great for me, but those don&#8217;t work wid the big old &#8216;<i>clunker&#8217;<\/i> HDDs.<\/p>\n<p><img Partition, (C:) (System), and Windows Recovery Environment (System) options since I back up my main DATA drives differently \u2013 click <b>Next<\/b>:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" sizes=\"(max-width: 628px) 100vw, 628px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Confirm the backup settings \u2013 click <b>Start backup<\/b>:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2381 size-full\" \u2013 a popup opens &#8216;n asks if you want to create a system repair disc, which I don&#8217;t since I keep a full Win11 Pro installer on a USB \u2013 click <b>Yes<\/b> if <u>you don&#8217;t have<\/u> the Windows installer or a Windows system repair disc.<\/p>\n<p>That does it, you now have a backup System Image to restore the PC as is\u2014<em>in case you need to<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"System_Recovery_using_a_backup_System_Image\"><\/span>System Recovery using a backup System Image<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A few months later, someone gives you a new faster &#8216;n <b>BIGGER<\/b> drive, and you want to see if that image will work; however, that&#8217;s an old image now since you failed to make a newer one every 4-5 days (<i>Shame Shame Shame!!!<\/i>), so you need to create a new System Image for this new drive.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Note<\/b>: I use two SSDs to keep fresh System Images on, and in case one stops working. Also, a backup system image can be restored to the <u>exact<\/u> same size or bigger drive, but not to a smaller drive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>OK \u2013 open <b>Settings &gt; System &gt; Recovery<\/b>:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2386 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2aa-System-Recovery.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"499\" height=\"567\" srcset=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2aa-System-Recovery.jpg 499w, https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2aa-System-Recovery-440x500.jpg 440w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 499px) 100vw, 499px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Look for &#8220;Advanced startup&#8221; backup system image, but <i>you can also pick another image by selecting &#8220;Select a system image&#8221; at bottom<\/i> \u2013 click <b>Next<\/b>:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2393 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2g-Finish.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"513\" height=\"406\" srcset=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2g-Finish.jpg 513w, https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2g-Finish-500x396.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 513px) 100vw, 513px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If all looks OK at this point \u2013 click <b>Finish<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>It finishes restoring the image to that new drive you got, <i>fairly quickly<\/i>, and then reboots into the restored desktop as it was when that image was made.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span>Conclusion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I rotate two SSDs every 4-5 days, creating a new System Image on one, and keeping the older one in case something goes wrong \u2013 which for me has never happened. \ud83d\ude42\ud83e\udd1eMost modern Windows OS licenses are tied to the motherboard, so as long as the motherboard is OK you can restore System Images to a drive connected to it.<\/p>\n<p>I mentioned at the beginning that two more similar posts are in the works \u2013 <b>1)<\/b> Configuring System Restore &amp;
