Am no expert USB ‘Techie<\/i>‘ but I do know what ‘Desktop Duty<\/i>‘ is \u2014 it<\/i> i<\/i>s<\/i> the performance I expect from ‘My Computers<\/b><\/i><\/a>‘, other hardware, my OS<\/b><\/a>, and other software (to a lesser degree<\/em>).<\/p>\n

When I transfer a 4.46 GB Redcore.Linux.Hardened.2301.Sirius.KDE.amd64.iso<\/b> from a download folder to a 128 GB USB (NTFS format<\/i>), I don’t like waiting for 2-3 minutes \u2013 or more in some cases<\/em>. Here’s an example of the different Write speeds between a 128 GB SanDisk Ultra<\/a><\/b> and a 128 GB SanDisk Extreme PRO\u00ae<\/a><\/b>:<\/p>\n

The Ultra took 118 seconds. The Extreme Pro took 14 seconds. Write speeds are more important for me than Read speeds \u2013 What are USB Read and Write speeds<\/b><\/a>?:<\/p>\n

Speed is a critical factor when choosing computer hardware, and Flash Drives are no different. Put simply, a \u2018Read speed\u2019 is how long it takes to open a file from your Flash Drive. A \u2018Write speed\u2019 is how long it takes to save something to that same Flash Drive.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The ‘SanDisk 128GB Extreme Pro USB 3.2 Gen 1 Solid State Flash Drive, Speed up to 420MB\/s (SDCZ880-128G-G46)<\/em>‘ cost me $39.99 from Newegg<\/b><\/a> \u2013 wid $2.80 in Tax ‘n Free shipping it was $42.79 total. Expensive, but if Write speed is important to you then the price is well worth it, IMHO.<\/p>\n

I have over 30 different USBs that will no longer be transferring large files \u2014 what else can I say!?! \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n
