(<span style=\"color: #c9211e;\"><i>It&#8217;s come a long way, for a &#8220;work in progress,&#8221; in a very short time, IMHO.<\/i><\/span> \ud83d\udc4d) .. <i>The Nobara Project, to put it simply, is a modified version of Fedora Linux with user-friendly fixes added to it. Fedora is a very good workstation OS, however, anything involving any kind of 3rd party or proprietary packages is usually absent from a fresh install. A typical point and click user can often struggle with how to get a lot of things working beyond the basic browser and office documents that come with the OS <\/i><i><u><b>without having to take extra time to search documentation<\/b><\/u><\/i><i>. Some of the important things that are missing from Fedora, <\/i><i><u><b>especially with regards to gaming<\/b><\/u><\/i><i> include WINE dependencies, obs-studio, 3rd party codec packages such as those for gstreamer, 3rd party drivers such as NVIDIA drivers, and even small package fixes here and there .. <\/i><i>This project aims to fix most of those issues <\/i><i><u><b>and offer a better gaming, streaming, and content creation experience out of the box<\/b><\/u><\/i><i>. More importantly, we want to be more point and click friendly, and <\/i><i><u><b>avoid the basic user from having to open the terminal<\/b><\/u><\/i><i>. It\u2019s not that the terminal and\/or terminal usage are a bad thing by any means, power users are more than welcome to continue with using the terminal, <\/i><i><u><b>but for new users, point and click ease of use is usually expected<\/b><\/u><\/i><i>.<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Nobara_37_Improvements\"><\/span>Nobara 37 Improvements<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1117 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2b-calameres-500x232.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"232\" srcset=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2b-calameres-500x232.jpg 500w, https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2b-calameres.jpg 577w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>1)<\/b> Main improvement I saw this time, wid a focus on &#8220;new users,&#8221; was the move from <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Anaconda_(installer)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Anaconda<\/b><\/a> (installer) to the <a href=\"https:\/\/calamares.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Calamares<\/b><\/a> (universal installer framework):<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1119 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2a-calamares.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"673\" height=\"403\" srcset=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2a-calamares.jpg 673w, https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2a-calamares-500x299.jpg 500w, https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2a-calamares-240x145.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 673px) 100vw, 673px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Much easier for &#8220;new users,&#8221; and I don&#8217;t have to insert installation images for the Anaconda (installer) in this review &#8211; \\o\/ \u2019<i>Hippity hip Hoorah<\/i>\u2019 \\o\/ \ud83d\ude01<\/p>\n<p><b>2)<\/b> A couple of bugs from my last review have been fixed.<\/p>\n<p><b>3)<\/b> Point &amp; Click was already great, but it has also improved.<\/p>\n<p><b>4)<\/b> ISO went from 4.83GBs down to a 2.75GB <a href=\"https:\/\/nobaraproject.org\/download-nobara\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Nobara-37-Official-2023-01-06.iso<\/b><\/a> this time &#8211; <b>WOW!<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I am sure there were many other improvements also, but I noticed those four during brief testing.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>NOTE<\/b>: <em>Only issue I had was not being able to get the UFR II\/UFRII LT Printer Driver for Linux V5.60 Canon MF3010 printer driver to work. Same driver works great on Fedora 37 Cinnamon SPIN &#8216;n another Fedora-based OS I&#8217;ve tested it on.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Installing_Nobara_37\"><\/span>Installing Nobara 37<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>They recommend using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.balena.io\/etcher\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Balena Etcher<\/a> to burn the ISO to your USB stick.<\/p>\n<p>I used a 16GB SanDisk USB for installation media &#8216;n a 120 SSD for the test Target disk.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1122 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/1-test-media.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"490\" height=\"355\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I let it test the media before starting the installation.<\/p>\n<p>Am the <a href=\"https:\/\/linuxnewbiesince1996.wordpress.com\/2020\/10\/21\/how-to-become-a-fulltime-linux-root-user\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i><b>Fulltime Root User<\/b><\/i><\/a> on all <a href=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/index.php\/about-kmt\/my-computers\/\">my computers<\/a>, i.e., I hate annoying <a href=\"https:\/\/linuxnewbiesince1996.wordpress.com\/distros-w-no-pesky-passwords\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>\u201cAuthenticate\u201d popups<\/strong><\/em><\/a> slowing my workflow, so I keep the standard user&#8217;s password different from the root\/admin user:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1124 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/3-user-and-admin.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1001\" height=\"557\" srcset=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/3-user-and-admin.jpg 1001w, https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/3-user-and-admin-500x278.jpg 500w, https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/3-user-and-admin-768x427.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1001px) 100vw, 1001px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s about it for the installation, which went fast &#8216;n easy! If you&#8217;ve had problems installing Fedora, then give Nobara 37 a try.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Post_Installation\"><\/span>Post Installation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1126 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/not-listed-login-500x307.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/not-listed-login-500x307.jpg 500w, https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/not-listed-login.jpg 510w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During reboot, I select &#8220;not listed&#8221; and login as root at the Login Screen&#8230;after that, Nobara 37 gives me this Login Screen:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1128 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/root-or-Karmi-400-500x293.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/root-or-Karmi-400-500x293.jpg 500w, https:\/\/karmismusingstech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/root-or-Karmi-400.jpg 729w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: <em>The camera on my new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lively.com\/phones\/jitterbug-smart3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jitterbug Smart3<\/a> phone works better than my regular camera for taking display screen shots, and much easier to use. Not a great pic, but good enough for a screen shot with a camera. Can&#8217;t believe I avoided Smart phones &#8216;n used flip-phones for years!?! <\/em>\ud83d\ude09<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Everything is pretty automatic &#8216;n Point &amp; Click after the login.
