Linux makes a great secondary OS and\/or an excellent tertiary OS \u2013 or how about a \u2018<em>quaternary, quinary, senary, septenary, octonary, nonary, and denary<\/em>\u2019 OS in support of your primary Windows OS? \ud83d\ude0e<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/href.li\/?https:\/\/wiki.vortexbox.org\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">VortexBox<\/a><\/strong> Linux is:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/href.li\/?https:\/\/wiki.vortexbox.org\/what_is_vortexbox\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Based<\/a><\/strong> on Fedora Linux VortexBox is a free quick-install ISO that turns your computer into an easy-to-use music server\/jukebox\/player. Once VortexBox has been loaded on a PC, it will automatically rip CDs to FLAC and MP3 files, ID3 tag the files , and download the cover art. Vortexbox will then serve the files to network media players such as Logitech Squeezebox, Sonos, or Linn. There are over 2000++ Linux Distros\/DE\u2019s\/Flavors\/SPINS\/etc. when you start adding up what all the options are, and I\u2019m simply not going to try <em>and\/or<\/em> review them all.<\/p>\n<p>I was in high school when the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/href.li\/?https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Beatlemania\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Beatles<\/a><\/strong> first came to America, and had\/have enjoyed music <em>before \u2018n after \u2018n since<\/em>; however, haven\u2019t done much listening for the past 5 years or so, and have no clue what a \u201cnetwork media\u201d player can do.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude33<\/p>\n<p>When I was looking for a logo to add to this post, I noticed that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/href.li\/?https:\/\/wiki.vortexbox.org\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">VortexBox<\/a><\/strong> had a sponsor (<em>see above pic<\/em>) \u2013 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/href.li\/?https:\/\/www.smallgreencomputer.com\/pages\/about-us\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Small Green Computer<\/a><\/strong>. Know nothing about them, but \u201cSmall Green Computer\u201d reminds me of all the old unused computers that music loving Windows users might have buried away in a closet.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Linux isn\u2019t to be feared\u2026the Distros are usually either \u201cuser friendly\u201d or \u201cless user friendly\u201d or \u201cnot at all user friendly.\u201d Just skip the totally unfriendly ones, <em>and they will be easy to spot<\/em>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you don\u2019t have any old unused computers <em>laying around<\/em>, then try doing a full install onto a USB (SanDisk &amp; Samsung are ext4 compatible). If you know what your <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/href.li\/?https:\/\/www.computerhope.com\/jargon\/b\/boot_menu.htm\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boot Menu key<\/a><\/strong> is, then you can use Linux on a USB, SD card, CD, DVD, or a spare HDD\/SSD drive without disturbing your Windows primary installation.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You do know what your <a href=\"https:\/\/href.li\/?https:\/\/www.computerhope.com\/jargon\/b\/boot_menu.htm\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boot Menu key<\/a> is, <em><u>right<\/u><\/em>?
