8\/29\/2025 Update<\/strong>: Exciting times ahead \u2013 I turned 79 a couple months ago, and old age gets a bad rap, IMHO. \ud83d\udc4c\ud83d\udc4d<\/p>\n

AI is absolutely one of the best things to ever happen to humanity. People whined and complained about radio, TV, calculators, computers, and countless other advances I no longer remember\u2014naturally they’re complaining about AI now too.<\/p>\n

The merger of my X content with this self-hosted WordPress blog is pretty much complete. Claude AI helped immensely with tweaking the theme’s appearance\u2014several recent posts describe what we accomplished together.<\/p>\n

I added the Rank Math SEO plugin around July 28, 2025, and have since optimized all posts and pages. During this process, I deleted roughly 80-90 posts that no longer aligned with where the blog is heading.<\/p>\n

AI has dramatically improved my writing quality without changing ‘My Voice<\/em>‘ too much. The harshness has been smoothed out, posts flow better instead of just bouncing around topics, and the overall structure is much stronger. The message remains authentically mine\u2014just delivered more effectively.<\/p>\n

3\/11\/2024 Update<\/b><\/span>: Postings have slowed down since I am using <\/span>X<\/b><\/span><\/a> (formerly Twitter) more \u2013 so am adding \u2018<\/span>News Snippets<\/i><\/span>\u2019 posts that link to news articles. Since Musk stole Twitter from the Progressives I have been enjoying it a lot more, and have an <\/span>X<\/b><\/span><\/a> subscription now. WordPress & <\/span>X<\/b><\/span><\/a> seem to \u2018<\/span>Fit<\/i><\/span>\u2019 together quite well…<\/span><\/p>\n

Started blogging on Blogger before Google purchased it. Google immediately started threatening Political blogs that did not support the Democratic party. I left Blogger and moved to WordPress in 2004.<\/p>\n

I’ve had several WordPress blogs, still have two, and never had any issues until WordPress forced the Block Editor onto users \u2013 unless the user was willing to pay $300 a year or more for another plan that offered the Classic Editor. I tried the $300 Business plan for a year, but started looking into what a self-hosted WordPress blog would require.<\/p>\n

Checked out 3-4 hosting plans, and settled on a 4-year Hostinger plan for a onetime Introductory<\/strong> price<\/strong> of $107.56 (about $2.25 a month<\/em>). The 4-year onetime Renewal price<\/strong> will be $335.52 in 10\/19\/2026. I may find a coupon to lower that price a little, but it is still a great deal\u2014compared to paying WordPress a onetime price<\/strong><\/em> of $1,200 for 4-years. \ud83e\udd14\ud83d\ude01<\/p>\n

I have found this Hostinger 4-year plan to be about the same as the WordPress Business plan, though WordPress offers more support whilst Hostinger offers more Data space…they are very close in other ways<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Around 6\/24\/2023 I decided to make the old Linux Newbie \u2013 Since 1996<\/em> a Private blog. That messed up a lot of links I had on posts here linking back to info on the Newbie<\/em> blog. I am not going to go thru all the posts here that had links to Newbie<\/em>, but have fixed a few, and will continue to do so as I come across them. Original intent was to have KM&T<\/em> use Newbie <\/em>as a ‘Hub<\/em>‘ to Linux info.<\/p>\n

Recently, have started moving some posts & pages to the new (11\/03\/2022<\/strong><\/em><\/a>) Karmi’s Musings & Tech <\/strong><\/em>(KM&T<\/em>) blog, and will probably delete the Newbie<\/em> blog at some point.<\/p>\n

Moving certain posts and pages is very time consuming this way, but I didn’t want to move the whole blog to this self-hosted site since KM&T was going to be more than just Linux.<\/p>\n

Self-hosting has been an ‘On-the-job training<\/em>‘ experience for me, have learned a lot, but am still very inexperienced at it.<\/p>\n
